LAKE COUNTY, Calif. — After a week of snow and rain, the National Weather Service said an incoming moderate atmospheric river is expected to bring more precipitation early in the week.
The National Weather Service’s Eureka office said the incoming storm system will bring the heaviest rain on Monday and Tuesday, with southern Mendocino County and Lake County forecast to see between 1 and 3 inches of total rainfall.
On Sunday, Lake County also is expected to see a small amount of rain, plus winds with gusts of up to 25 miles per hour during the day and lighter winds at night.
Beyond the rainy conditions on Monday and Tuesday, the forecast calls for chances of rain from Wednesday through Saturday.
In the mountains of northern Lake County, a flood watch due to excessive rainfall will be in effect from 10 p.m. Monday through 12 a.m. Wednesday, the National Weather Service said.
Temperatures this week are expected to be on the warmer side, rising into the high 60s during the day by the weekend and high 40s at night.
The rainfall over the past week has added a lot of water to Clear Lake.
The United States Geological Survey’s gauge on Clear Lake showed that early Sunday the lake was at 7.37 feet Rumsey, the special measure for Clear Lake.
The lake is considered full at 7.56 feet Rumsey.
