Capt. James Bauman reported that the sheriff's office recently received a report of a marijuana grow being raided by a group of armed men dressed in law enforcement attire and claiming to be agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration.
Other incidents of phony law enforcement raids involving the theft of marijuana by people impersonating law enforcement officers and mocking their tactics have been reported in other Northern California counties this season, Bauman said.
There was no violence or injury to the victim in the phony raid in Lake County, Bauman said.
He added that those engaged in the cultivation of marijuana, whether legally or illicitly, are advised to be mindful of the incidents.
No further information is being released pending further investigation into the Lake County case, Bauman said.
