Clearlake hires Neiman as city administrator

CLEARLAKE – The Clearlake City Council has named an interim city administrator to take the helm at city hall.

Mayor Judy Thein reported Wednesday that the council has offered the position to Dale Neiman, the former city manager of Fortuna. Neiman reportedly left his position in that city in 2002.

The same night his hire was being decided in Clearlake, Neiman was at the Lakeport City Council meeting. He recently was hired  as a consultant on a development proposal regarding the City of Lakeport Municipal Sewer District (CLMSD), and he was at Tuesday's Lakeport Council meeting to give an update on that project proposal.

Last year Lakeport's current mayor, Roy Parmentier,  approached Neiman about the Lakeport city manager spot, according to City Council minutes and a statement by Parmentier.

Neiman also has been a redevelopment consultant for the City of Fort Bragg, which hired him to put together the Fort Bragg Redevelopment Agency's Five Year Implementation Plan.

Neiman couldn't be reached for comment Wednesday.
