GE crops committee membership, contractor selection and IHSS on supervisors agenda

LAKEPORT – The Board of Supervisors will consider membership on the Genetically Engineered (GE) Crops Advisory Committee, hear about new requirements for the In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) program and get an update on the county's construction selection process when it meets this week.

The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the board chambers at the Lake County Courthouse, 255 N. Forbes St. TV Channel 8 will broadcast the meeting live.

The agenda can be downloaded at www.co.lake.ca.us/Government/Boards/Board_of_Supervisors/BOS_Agendas.htm .

At 11:30 a.m., the board is expected to give staff direction on membership and composition of the GE Crops Advisory Committee.

Last month, the group – which began meeting in January – reported that it was unable to come to final recommendations. However, it was suggested at that time that the group's membership – 13 members and about half a dozen alternates – should be reduced to seven. The board will consider those potential members on Tuesday.

At 11 a.m., Ruth Valenzuela, a field representative with Assemblyman Wes Chesbro's office, will report to the board on new state requirements for the IHSS program. The update comes the same week as IHSS Caregiver Week in marked.

In other board news, at 9:15 a.m., the board will receive a quarterly report on the alternative selection process for construction-related activities.
