Timothy Brian Bailey, 43, was arrested and booked into the Lake County Jail on a charge of drug manufacturing, according to Clearlake Police Chief Allan McClain.
McClain told Lake County News on Thursday that it's been at least three years since his department has encountered such a methamphetamine manufacturing operation.
At approximately 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Clearlake Police Crime Suppression Unit officers, along with a Clearlake Code Enforcement officer and building inspector, responded to 13820 Manakee Ave. on a report of a motor home parked on the property that appeared to be illegally hooked up to power and water, McClain said.
It also was reported that appeared someone was living in the motor home in violation of the California Health and Safety Code, he said.
Officers contacted Bailey, the motor home's sole occupant, and McClain said that while they were on the scene they noticed odors associated with the clandestine manufacture of methamphetamine emanating from inside and around the motor home. They also noticed chemicals and apparatus associated with the clandestine manufacture of methamphetamine.
McClain said the officers secured the property until they could obtain a search warrant for the motor home and surrounding property.
The Department of Justice Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement Lab team out San Francisco was summoned to the scene. McClain said four members from the San Francisco Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement team assisted with the investigation.
Investigators seized chemicals and apparatus associated with the illegal clandestine manufacture of methamphetamine, McClain said. Several items have been submitted to the Department of Justice Crime lab for testing.
Bailey, whose occupation is listed as being in construction, remained in the Lake County Jail on Thursday, with bail set at $40,000. His arraignment tentatively was reported as Friday, according to Lake County Jail records.
Anyone with information about Bailey's case is asked to call Clearlake Police Sgt. Tim Celli at the Clearlake Police Department, 707-994-8251.
