Walnut update to be held March 10

LAKEPORT – University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE) invites growers and others involved in the North Coast walnut industry to attend the 2010 Lake County Walnut Update.


The meeting will be held Wednesday, March 10, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Mendo-Lake Credit Union Community Room, 963 11th St., Lakeport. The facility is wheelchair-accessible.


Topics will include local and statewide walnut research highlights, an update from the agricultural commissioner, crown gall biology and control, walnut twig beetle and 1000 cankers disease, using the computer to make IPM decisions, and reducing hulling and drying costs.


The California Walnut Board will also present a domestic and international marketing update.

 

The meeting is sponsored by UCCE, California Walnut Board, and the Lake County Department of Agriculture.


Lunch will be provided courtesy of the California Walnut Board.


Preregistration by March 8 is required in order to plan for lunch.
