Sheriff's office plans Internet safety and cyber predator training April 29

LAKEPORT – The Lake County Sheriff’s Department and the Lake County District Attorney’s Office will present a free seminar on Internet safety and Internet predators on Thursday, April 29.

The seminar will begin at 6 p.m. and be held at United Christian Parish, 745 N. Brush St. in Lakeport. It's expected to last one to two hours.

Det. Mike Curran of the Lake County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit and Chief District Attorney Investigator Craig Woodworth with the District Attorney’s Office will be the presenters.

Internet predators are a very real threat to children and they exist across the nation, as well as in our own back yard here in Lake County, officials reported.

The program is intended to educate the public on the dangers of unsupervised Internet use by children and is open to all parents and other interested adults.

Attendance by minors is discouraged due to the content of the material presented.

This program is presented free of charge on behalf of the Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement (SAFE) Task Force.
