Instead, the council will continue the discussion at a regular meeting this Thursday, July 1.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the council chambers at Clearlake City Hall, 14050 Olympic Drive.
The Monday meeting was called due to the fact that Councilman Roy Simons was unable to attend last Thursday's regular meeting due to a hospitalization, as Lake County News has reported.
However, city officials reported that Simons underwent surgery on Sunday and isn't expected to be released from the hospital until late in the week. They have not specified the cause of his illness.
Simons, Mayor Judy Thein and Councilman Chuck Leonard are the only council members who are eligible to vote on the plan.
Councilman Curt Giambruno and Vice Mayor Joyce Overton have had to recuse themselves because their homes are in the redevelopment area. Thein's home also is in the redevelopment area, but she was put through a “rehabilitation” process earlier this year in order to reestablish a quorum for the council regarding the redevelopment plan votes.
The city's redevelopment plan ends July 9, and city staff is proposing extending the plan for another 10 years. But time is running out to take the vote.
The plan extension vote is expected to be introduced on Thursday, officials reported.
If Simons is unavailable, Overton and Giambruno will draw cards to see who will replace Simons on the dais, according to city staff.
