LAKEPORT – A special media workshop is being planned to assist local community groups and nonprofits in understanding how to submit articles and events for publication.

The workshop will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, in the upstairs community meeting room at Umpqua Bank, 805 11^th St., Lakeport.

The event is free. Reservations are not required.

Lake County Record-Bee News Editor Mandy Feder and Lake County News Editor and Publisher Elizabeth Larson will host the workshop.

They will explain how to format and submit press releases so groups can take advantage of free publicity opportunities offered by the media.

Topics will include the dos and don'ts of press releases, formatting guidelines for photos and documents, a brief introduction to Associated Press style, tips for succinct writing and how to establish relationships with publications.
