The county of Lake plans to honor Veterans Day 2010 by presenting a proclamation at the Board of Supervisors meeting at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, in the Board of Supervisors Chambers at the Lake County Courthouse, 255 N. Forbes St., Lakeport.
During the week of Nov. 8 the courthouse lobby will feature a Veterans Day display which will include a card that citizens can sign to thank veterans for their service to our country.
Individuals visiting the display and courthouse that week also are encouraged to look at the permanent lobby display entitled, “The Wall of Honor,” which features Lake County citizens who are actively serving in the military in combat zones. The Wall of Honor was created and is maintained by the “Support Our Soldiers” group.
The courthouse lobby also features a permanent display of a special American flag which was raised over the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq.
The courthouse will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 11, in honor of Veterans Day.
