The meeting begins at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, in the council chambers at Clearlake City Hall, 14050 Olympic Drive.
City Clerk Melissa Swanson, who won reelection on Nov. 2, will administer the oath to Jeri Spittler and Joey Luiz, who led a field of nine candidates in last month's general election.
The swearing in will follow a presentation of proclamations to city employees in the city's administrative offices, public works and police departments.
Retiring council members Roy Simons and Chuck Leonard also will receive presentations in recognition of their service, as will Mayor Judy Thein and Vice Mayor Joyce Overton, who will be relinquishing their titles when the council elects its new leaders for the coming year. Thein also is scheduled to make a presentation.
The sitting council will approve its consent agenda before the oath is administered to the newly elected officials.
The newly sworn council members will join their colleagues in a closed session discussion on appointing an interim city administrator and a new chief of police.
