LAKEPORT – The Lakeport City Council will hold a special meeting Tuesday to discuss the city manager selection process.
The meeting will take place at 4 p.m. Jan. 30 in the council chambers at city hall, 225 Park St.
The council will hold a brief meeting in open session to approve the warrant register and Resolution No. 2291 (2007) delegating authority to execute agreements and amendments with the California Department of Transportation.
Following those items, the council adjourn into closed session to discuss the city manager's position, which it is seeking to fill.
City Attorney Steve Brookes said in an interview earlier this month that an executive search firm, Bob Murray & Associates, is conducting the recruitment effort for the city, and has received 27 applications for the job.
Brookes took the subject to the council at its Jan. 9 meeting to find out how the council wanted to proceed in making a decision.
At that time they discussed cutting the candidates down to four or five finalists who would then go through an interview process.
Once a candidate is chosen, Brookes said there are several more steps, including making an offer, negotiating a contract and conducting background checks on the candidate.
No estimate was made at that time about how much longer it would take to fill the position.
