Police find dead man in vehicle

LAKEPORT – Police are investigating the case of a man found dead in his car on Tuesday.

Lt. Brad Rasmussen of Lakeport Police reported that police received a call of a man down at the Willow Tree Shopping Center on 11th Street at 5:49 p.m. Tuesday.

When police arrived they found a male adult in a passenger vehicle parked behind the Mendo-Lake Credit Union near Longs Drugs, said Rasmussen.

“We did conduct an investigation to make sure there was nothing suspicious,” said Rasmussen.

He said investigators found no evidence that led them to believe that the man died from anything other than natural causes.

The case has been turned over to the Lake County Coroner’s Office, said Rasmussen, which is charged with contacting the man’s family and investigating his death.

Rasmussen said Lakeport Police’s investigation is pending the outcome of the coroner’s case and an autopsy.

A call to the Lake County Coroner’s Office to find out if the man’s name had been released was not returned Wednesday.
