Owen: Lake County supervisors should follow Orange County's lead on sex offender restrictions

I would like to encourage our Lake County Board of Supervisors to restrict registered sex offenders as Orange County has done.

According to the Los Angeles Times, “Orange County supervisors approved a law Tuesday significantly restricting the movements of registered sex offenders, banning them entering some county beaches, parks and harbor areas.”

Realizing that we never know who has done what in our midst, at least this kind of attempt would signify our county's aim and intention to keep our children safer from child predators.

Teaching children as well to be safety smart is also important and parents entering public restrooms with their children at all times could mean the difference between life and death as happened to a little boy in a restroom at the beach in San Diego some years ago – he was killed by a child predator.

We must make every attempt to keep our children safe.
