Richard Alan Headrick, 54, was taken into custody on June 4, according to a report from Sgt. Tim Celli of the Clearlake Police Department.
Celli said Headrick's arrest resulted from a police investigation into a reported sexual assault on a juvenile female that began on June 1.
He said that the alleged victim and her mother went to the police department and reported the crime, which they alleged began when the girl was 5 years old and continued until she was 10 years old.
Clearlake Police detectives discovered the alleged molestation may have included oral copulation and touching of the juvenile's private areas, according to Celli's report.
During the investigation, Headrick went to the police department to confess. Celli said Det. Sgt. Tom Clements took Headrick’s confession which led to Headrick’s arrest.
Headrick allegedly admitted to committing the acts of molestation approximately 25 times from the time the victim was 7 years old until the victim was 11 years old, with the last incident occurring approximately two years ago, Celli said.
On Tuesday Headrick remained in the Lake County Jail on felony charges of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under age 14, continuous sexual abuse of a child and sexual penetration with force. Jail records indicate bail is set at $50,000.
