Lakeport to host July 12 meeting on proposed S. Main Street annexation

LAKEPORT, Calif. – The city of Lakeport is inviting residents, and business and property owners along the S. Main Street/Soda Bay corridor to a meeting that will discuss the area's proposed annexation into the city.

The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, in the council chambers at Lakeport City Hall, 225 Park St.

A letter Lakeport Community Development/Redevelopment Director Richard Knoll and City Manager Margaret Silveira sent out to community members last week said the community meeting will discuss the city's proposed annexation application to the Local Area Formation Commission (LAFCO).

City staff will be on hand to answer questions or concerns, according to the letter.

Knoll told the Lakeport City Council at its Tuesday meeting that the July 12 will be an informal meeting to share information about what the annexation process involves.

He said the meeting is not an official part of the LAFCO annexation process.

The city's most recent annexation effort involved adding a 150-acre area along Parallel Drive to the city's area, as Lake County News has reported. LAFCO approved that annexation in May 2008.

Community members with questions can contact Knoll at 707-263-8840 or Silveira at 707-263-5615, Extension 32.
