Officials release latest results for Operation Full Court Press

NORTH COAST, Calif. – The continuing effort to eradicate illegal marijuana gardens on public lands has netted more than 160,000 plants since last week, according to a Friday report.

Operation Full Court Press involves more than two dozen local, state and federal agencies and is taking place across six counties, including Lake, Mendocino, Glenn, Colusa, Tehama and Trinity.

Representatives of many of the agencies involved gathered in Ukiah on July 29 to give an update on the effort, although they would not specify the time frame for the operation, as Lake County News has reported.

At that time, just over 460,000 marijuana plants had been seized and removed, officials reported.

According to a report released by Glenn County Sheriff Larry Jones, as of Friday morning the focused operation had eradicated a total of 620,973 marijuana plants allegedly being grown illegally by criminal organizations on public lands.

In addition, a total of 86 grow sites have now been eradicated, with 392 indoor plants and approximately 1,986.33 pounds of processed marijuana seized, as well as one gram of methamphetamine, 22 Xanax pills and two grams of hashish, the report noted.

One hundred and 50 arrests have been made, 36 weapons and $28,031 in cash seized, 20 weapons impounded and 10 warrants served, Jones reported.

Mitigating environmental damage also is a goal of the operation, according to the joint agencies running it.

The Friday report said that thus far 32 sites have been reclaimed and 49,354 pounds of trash removed, along with the removal of 64 propane tanks, 14 manmade dams and 39 manmade reservoirs, 181,460 feet of irrigation pipe, 210 cargo nets, 5,045 pounds of fertilizer, 99 pounds of pesticides and 95.4 pounds of rodenticides, and there have been 18 trash dumps.
