Following a moment of silence dedicated to Luwana Quitiquit and Steve Elias, who died last month, the board sat down to begin rearranging the leadership.
Jim Comstock served as chair and Jeff Smith as vice chair in 2011.
Typically, the vice chair succeeds to becoming chair, but Smith moved to appoint Supervisor Rob Brown.
“I don’t really want to do it but I want to do it less, evidently, than you,” said Brown.
The board voted unanimously to have Brown become chair, and Comstock passed him the gavel.
Comstock then nominated Smith to continue as vice chair, which also was carried 5-0.
The board voted to have Supervisor Anthony Farrington continue as chair of the Lake County Board of Equalization. Smith also will serve as vice chair of that board.
The In-Home Supportive Services Authority Board of Directors is typically led by the same chair and vice chair as the Board of Supervisors, a practice which Supervisor Denise Rushing moved to uphold. The board approved her motion 5-0.
Comstock said it was a privilege to serve as chair over the past year, and that he enjoyed working with staff. “It truly has been a pleasure.”
