LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Lakeport City Council will meet early for a midyear budget review workshop before its regular meeting this week.
The council will convene for the workshop at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, in the council chambers at Lakeport City Hall, 225 Park St.
Highlights of the review include total general fund revenues that are up 2 percent over 2010-11, water and sewer revenues that are slightly higher than anticipated and total expenditures that are on pace with redevelopment. At the same time, the city is facing the loss of redevelopment.
The council's regular meeting will begin at 6 p.m.
Antonio Castellanos, a new Lakeport Police Department volunteer, will be introduced to the council and the community during public presentations.
Under council business, City Manager Margaret Silveira will take to the council a request for funding for the Lakeport Main Street Association for the 2011-12 fiscal year.
The association has been funded, in part, by redevelopment funds, and the council must decide if it will continue funding the group.
Silveira's report said the council can choose to offer the full 2010-11 funding level of $20,000, only cover $13,500 for the executive director's part-time salary, provide a different amount or none at all.
In redevelopment-related business, the council will be asked to confirm the mayor's appointments of two members to the redevelopment agency's successor agency oversight board; approve a resolution for the recognized obligation payment schedule for redevelopment-related debts; and adopt the proposed administrative budget for the successor agency.
In other business, Public Works Director Doug Grider will ask the council for direction on whether or not to continue the Westshore Pool Summer Camp Program for the third summer. The concern is that the camp could result in a revenue loss for the city.
The council also will hold a closed session to discuss one case of pending litigation, Operating Engineers Local Union No. 3 and Lakeport Police Officers Association v. City of Lakeport, Lakeport City Council (Lake County Superior Court Case No. CV410232); and labor negotiations with the Lakeport Police Officers Association.
