Skate park tops Clearlake council's busy agenda

CLEARLAKE – The city's skate park, police business and two nuisance abatement cases are on the Clearlake City Council's lengthy Thursday agenda.

The City Council will meet at 6 p.m. in the council chambers at Clearlake City Hall, 14050 Olympic Drive.

The skateboard park is the first discussion item of one dozen issues slated to be discussed.

Because of the park's deteriorated condition, the city closed it earlier this fall. At the council's Nov. 8 meeting the city's young people filled the council chambers to show their concern for the loss of the park's use.

The city asked the community to partner in finding creative solutions to fixing the park – estimated to require as much as $8,000 in repairs – which council members said they couldn't afford to do because of this year's tight budget.

In police business, the council is scheduled to discuss the state of the police department. In addition, it will consider a proposal to create police officer trainee and police cadet positions, and place in surplus seven police vehicles.

Two nuisance abatement cases are scheduled to go before the council: 14658 Lakeshore Drive, owned by Ingrid Robinson, and 15105 Lakeshore Drive, owned by Patricia Lewis in care of Peter Windrem.

Other items scheduled for discussion include a conceptual reorganization of the Public Works Department; establishing the salary level of the engineering tech position; potential purchase of property in order to relocate the city's corporation yard; and consideration of monthly reports.
