Lake's sheriff calls department meeting; Mendocino deputies will offer coverage

LAKE COUNTY Mendocino County Sheriff’s deputies will offer coverage assistance to the Lake County Sheriff's Office during an upcoming department meeting.

Lake County Sheriff Rodney K. Mitchell has called a meeting with all of his employees, according to a Tuesday report from Lt. Cecil Brown.

Mitchell plans to hold the meetings periodically in order to improve communication within the department, said Brown.

Mitchell told Lake County News Tuesday that he has 187 employees in his agency, which includes the Lake County Jail and its personnel.

Mendocino County Sheriff Thomas D. Allman has offered a team of Mendocino County deputies to serve the public in Lake County during the meeting, Brown reported.

While the meeting takes place, Mendocino County Sheriff’s personnel also will staff the Hill Road Jail and Lake County Central Dispatch, according to Brown.

Brown said Mitchell has set a date for the first department-wide meeting; however, meeting dates will not be released to the public, due to security concerns.

Members of the Lake and Mendocino County Sheriff’s Offices met on several occasions to ensure that public safety needs were met during the department meetings, Brown reported.

Brown said that, in the future, Sheriff Mitchell will reciprocate by sending personnel to Mendocino County to cover during meetings Allman plans to hold with his department.
