LAKEPORT, Calif. – Police are investigating a rash of spray paint vandalisms that recently has hit the city of Lakeport.
Lakeport Police Sgt. Dale Stoebe said the agency is investigating eight cases of graffiti tagging.
“We actually had a similar series of spray paint vandalisms where the suspect was painting the word ‘ACE’ in script writing,” Stoebe told Lake County News. “It stopped and in the end of September, it started again.”
At Tuesday night’s Lakeport City Council meeting, Councilman Roy Parmentier complained that something had to be done to end the recent vandalisms.
“This tagging’s got to stop,” Parmentier said. “It’s just BS.”
Stoebe said the eight vandalism cases police are investigating all have similar circumstances, occurring at various times of the day and night.
“We have performed several operations to capture/identify the suspect,” Stoebe said.
Stoebe said the suspect has been at work all over town, with no apparent pattern to his or her activities.
Late last year, Lakeport was hit over a period of a few months by graffiti taggings to Library Park and downtown businesses. At that time expensive damage also was done to Lakeport schools, one of which had several windows shot out, as Lake County News has reported.
Anyone with information about any of the recent vandalisms is asked to call the Lakeport Police Department at 707-263-5491.
If a vandalism is witnessed in progress, call 911.
