KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – Representatives of the Lake County Winegrape Commission are preparing to pour Lake County wines at the largest wine industry trade show in the United States.

Winegrape Commission President Debra Sommerfield and Jonathan Walters, a commission board member, will attend the 19th annual Unified Wine & Grape Symposium to pour a selection of Lake County wines during the symposium’s 2013 Regional Wine Tasting.

The event will take place between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, at the Sacramento Convention Center.

“The Unified Wine & Grape Symposium wine tasting event is an excellent opportunity for us to showcase the products from our premier winegrape growing region,” said Sommerfield. “Last year’s symposium attracted more than 12,000 people, according to the event organizers. We are hoping to impress a large number of attendees with Lake County’s wines.”

Sommerfield said she and Walters are looking forward to sharing information about the area’s award-winning vintages and talking to current and prospective winery customers while they pour a selection of the county’s wines.

The Regional Wine Tasting is one of many presentations planned for the four-day symposium, which is scheduled for January 29-31 in Sacramento.

The Unified Wine & Grape Symposium is jointly organized by the American Society for Enology and Viticulture and the California Association of Winegrape Growers.

The symposium offers grape growers, winemakers and wineries several networking opportunities in addition to four days of informative forums and sessions on a variety of topics.

Established in 1991 by the winegrape growers of Lake County, the Lake County Winegrape Commission is a local marketing order, the primary function of which is to provide marketing, education, and research programs to Lake County winegrape growers.
