Police: Burch death cause uncertain

LAKEPORT – Officials are still uncertain of the cause of death for a woman whose body was found in her Lakeport home last week.

However, an initial report from Lakeport Policed following the autopsy of 65-year-old artist Dani Burch says that she may not have died in a suspicious manner.

Police found Burch’s body and that of her small dog in her home at 60 Lily Cove Ave. on the night of Jan. 9 after responding to a welfare check, as Lake County News reported.

A medical examiner performed an autopsy on Burch’s body Tuesday morning in Napa, with Det. Norm Taylor present to witness, according to a report Lakeport Police released Tuesday night.

While police say it’s still too early to classify Burch’s death, “evidence from the autopsy along with additional evidence gathered to date is consistent with the manner of death being suicide.”

The Lakeport Police statement added, “Toxicology tests are still pending and we do not have a final autopsy report.”

Lakeport Police reported that they are in the midst of conducting a thorough criminal investigation into Burch’s death, with additional evidence to examine and persons still to interview.

“We have not reached any final conclusions yet about the manner of death,” the Lakeport Police statement noted
