Sheriff’s recall committee plans signature gathering events

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – A committee leading the effort to recall Sheriff Frank Rivero said it plans upcoming signature gathering events around Lake County.

The Committee to Recall Rivero and Restore Integrity reported that the collection of signatures by volunteers throughout the County of Lake is fully under way.

Last weekend, volunteers working throughout the county collected nearly 1,000 signatures at tables set up in front of two stores and at the Kelseyville Olive Festival.

This Saturday, April 27, and Sunday, April 28, the committee will have volunteers to man signature gathering stations at Bruno's Shop Smart, Safeway, Kmart and Grocery Outlet in Lakeport.

The following weekend – Saturday, May 4, and Sunday, May 5 – the committee will focus on Clearlake, with tables at Walmart, Safeway, Rays and Foods Etc.

They also have numerous volunteer signature gatherers working individually throughout the county.

“The communities contacted so far are supportive and enthusiastic, and we have encountered very few citizens unwilling to sign or with a negative response,” according to committee spokesman, Chris Rivera.
