Wiloth Equine Therapy, MSquare Farms form partnership

LAKE COUNTY – The Wiloth Equine Therapy and Riding Center is proud to announce their newest partnership with MSquare Farms in Kelseyville.

MSquare owners Mark and Monica Buehnerkemper are just as excited as the team at Wiloth Equine that this opportunity has arisen.

The need for and awareness of equine-facilitated therapy has been increasing dramatically over the past two years. With the center’s primary location in Lower Lake, it is sometimes difficult for residents living on the opposite side of the County to attend sessions. Now it will be much easier for residents on the Lakeport/Kelseyville side of the County to bring their family members to receive this sought after form of therapy and socialization.

The Wiloth Equine Therapy and Riding Center is a nonprofit equine-facilitated riding center. Its passion is to bring horses and persons with disabilities/disadvantages together. Staff members strongly feel that horses have the ability to bring not only positive physical improvements, but emotional ones as well.

Studies have proven that while children and adults are atop a horse, the natural movement of the animal in conjunction with the movement of the patient’s hips stimulates the speech process of the brain. Many times children will open up and speak while on horseback, where it is extremely difficult for them to speak clearly in other social situations.

What those affiliated with the center witness every day is truly amazing. Anyone who would like to see the program at work is welcome to stop by and visit with the owners and view the center at work. Witnessing these children and horses in person can bring an entirely new perspective to this unique type of therapy.

Wiloth Equine Therapy and Riding Center has been up and running for nearly two years now, thanks in large part to the dedicated staff and volunteers, generous contributions and unwavering support from the Lake County community.

More than 2,000 people have come through the gates of the property, and more than half of those have been served on a no-charge, scholarship basis.

The ranch has been extremely fortunate to have had many of their horses donated, as well as saddles, bridles, brushes and more. Being a nonprofit organization, they rely heavily on the generous donations of others.

Also offered at the ranch are mainstream lessons, ranch trail rides, winery trail rides, horse hauling, parties and the newly added horse boarding. Immediate openings are available for boarding. The center is proud to announce as well that 100 percent of the proceeds from all non-therapy activities (i.e. mainstream lessons, trail rides, etc.) go directly into funding the therapeutic and socialization program.

If you are a Redwood Coast Regional Center client, please contact your service provider to see how you can obtain the newly added socialization services of the Wiloth Equine Therapy and Riding Center.

This summer will also see the beginning of the ranch’s Day Camp program. Students from both the therapeutic and mainstream communities will have the opportunity to come together on a weekly basis to experience all that Wiloth Equine has to offer.

Wiloth Equine Therapy and Riding Center is continuing to expand and continuing their efforts to raise funding. Currently they are set up to accept online donations through their Web site, www.wilothenterprises.com. You can also help to support their clients by shopping at countrysupply.com. Five percent of your order is given to them when you enter the code: wiloth equine.

The Lake County Cares Equine Therapy Group has already held one successful fundraising B.Y.O.H. (Bring Your Own Horse) trail ride with another planned for May 10 at Langtry Estate and Vineyards. One hundred percent of the proceeds from these rides go directly toward bringing the special education children in all seven school districts in Lake County to the ranch for therapeutic sessions.

The farm thanks Lake County for its continued support.
