KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – The Lake County Winegrape Commission is redefining “momentum” with a series of seminars focusing on marketing tools and trends for Lake County’s wine industry.

“Momentum” kicks off on Friday, Nov. 22, 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Soper-Reese Community Theatre, 275 S. Main St. in Lakeport.

It will be followed by two more seminars in January and February.

Sponsored by the Lake County Winegrape Commission and funded in part by a United States Department of Agriculture specialty crop grant, the seminar series is designed for Lake County’s winegrape growers, winery owners, winemakers and tasting room managers.

Series highlights will include keynote presentations by wine industry experts, discussions about marketing trends specific to the Lake County appellation, marketing tools and sales techniques, and technical wine tastings with emphasis on the developing style of Lake County wines.

“We are excited to bring this informative series of seminars to Lake County wine industry professionals,” said Debra Sommerfield, president of the Lake County Winegrape Commission. “The three workshops will each provide important insight specific to Lake County’s winegrape and wine production and will offer a great opportunity to connect with colleagues and share what we’re learning about the growth – the momentum – in our industry.”

The Nov. 22 program will feature a special keynote presentation by Professor Gregory V. Jones who will share results from his study on the climate of the Clear Lake winegrowing region.

The afternoon also will include a presentation on the “Lake County Rising” story about the growth in the local wine industry, the distinctiveness of the wine region, and the recognition it is receiving.

A panel of Lake County winegrowers and winemakers will discuss the specific characteristics of Lake County’s American Viticultural Areas, which will be followed by a guided technical tasting on the evolving style of Lake County wines. A social mixer with appetizers will close the session.

Space is limited and advance registration is required. The cost for each seminar is $20 per person.
