Yuba College accepting police academy applications

MARYSVILLE, Calif. – The Yuba College Public Safety Department has announced that it is still continuing to accept applications for the Spring Semester 2014 Module III Police Academy.

The Module III Academy is designed to meet the new Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) requirements.

This is the first of three modules that is required to complete the POST Basic Police Academy.

Completed applications must be returned to the Public Safety Department by Wednesday, Dec. 11, at 5 p.m.

On Saturday, Dec. 14, at 9 a.m. in the Health and Public Safety Building on the Yuba College Campus, 2088 North Beale Road, Marysville, a mandatory orientation will be held followed by the POST Entrance Exam.

The top 40 students will be selected for the program. Students must also pass a limited background check, medical clearance and the Department of Justice Live Scan.

The Module III Academy starts on Saturday, Jan. 11, and ends on March 19, 2014.

The class will meet on Wednesdays and Fridays from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Upon acceptance into the program students will be required to pay all applicable fees and purchase their own equipment and uniform.

Upon successful completion of the entire Yuba College POST Module Academy (III, II,I) students will receive a POST Graduate Certificate that will allow them to apply for a Police Officer position in California.
