CLEARLAKE, Calif. – Culinary students at Yuba College's Clear Lake Campus, under the direction of Chef Robert Cabreros, will prepare and serve their annual Summer Harvest Dinner on Saturday, Sept. 6.
The dinner – held at Aromas Restaurant on the campus, 15880 Dam Road Extension – is a fundraiser for Children's Museum of Art and Science.
The Lake County harvest-inspired menu aims to use foods sourced as locally as possible including produce from Adamson Ranch in Lower Lake and Chacewater olive oil.
Dinner is buffet-style with menu items served as small plates.
Diners can watch as students prepare and plate the dishes in Aromas Restaurant open kitchen.
Menu items include Insalata caprese, watermelon feta salad, Aromas famous barbecue pork fried rice, fried Filipino Lumpia, steak and carnitas tacos, Mexican-style grilled corn, Surami Ceviche and “BLFGT” – bacon, lettuce and fried green tomato sandwich.
Of course there also will be fantastic desserts. Since the event is on the Yuba College campus, no alcohol will be served but dinner includes both cold drinks and coffee creations.
Live music to accompany the dinner will be performed by the local group InVoice with Bill Bordisso, Doug Harris, Libbie Larson and Keith Larson.
Baskets and gift certificates will be raffled off during the evening also.
Tickets for the Summer Harvest Dinner are $20 each and can be purchased in advance at Marie's Feed in Clearlake, The Travel Center in Lakeport or by email to
If tickets are not sold out they can be purchased at the door at 6 p.m. on Sept. 6.
Proceeds from the evening benefit activities provided by the Children's Museum of Art and Science (CMAS) including Lego Robot sessions in elementary schools, the art and science day camp in May, and the Robot Club led by former teacher Bill Bordisso.
The Summer Harvest Dinner is the first event of the new school year for the advanced culinary students.
