HIDDEN VALLEY LAKE, Calif. – Local law enforcement authorities are investigating the disappearance of a Hidden Valley Lake man who was reported missing earlier this week.
Guillermo Figueroa, a husband and father of three, has been missing since Sunday night, according to a statement from Hidden Valley Lake Association officials, who put out an alert to residents.
“There is some question of what happened to the individual,” said Sgt. Nick Bennett of the Clearlake Police Department.
“Our detectives are looking into the circumstances,” Bennett said. “When we finish up our part of the investigation we’ll be forwarding it to the (Lake County) Sheriff’s Office.”
Figueroa has been visiting a friend in Clearlake and telephoned his wife that he was coming home. However, he never arrived, according to the Hidden Valley Lake Association report, which media representative Jim Freeman said had been verified with the Clearlake Police Department.
Clearlake Police officers found an abandoned car registered in Figueroa’s name in the vicinity of Burns Valley Road, the association reported.
Officials said Figueroa's cell phone was pinged and tracked to a general area in Clearlake, but officers couldn't get an exact location.
Sgt. Bennett said he was limited in the information he could release on Figueroa's disappearance at this point, adding, “I don’t know if he’s a missing person or if we have something worse.”
Anyone with information about Figueroa or his whereabout is asked to call the Clearlake Police Department at 707-994-8251 or the Lake County Sheriff’s Office at 707-262-4200.
