Sheriff's office investigates Kelseyville stabbing case

KELSEYVILLE – Sheriff's investigators are trying to unravel what transpired during a stabbing that took place early last Friday morning in downtown Kelseyville.

On Monday Sheriff Rod Mitchell confirmed that a stabbing took place just after midnight on the morning of May 16 on Kelseyville's Main Street.

A preliminary investigation suggests that a group of people who had dinner at the Saw Shop Gallery Bistro left the restaurant and headed to the Brick Tavern, said Mitchell.

At some point a confrontation ensued, said Mitchell.

Part of the complication, said Mitchell, is that there are multiple victims and witnesses, and investigators are still trying to sort out who is who.

The investigation's initial report names 11 people, four of whom are potential victims, said Mitchell.

Deputies remained in downtown Kelseyville until 2 a.m. Friday morning, clearing the scene, said Mitchell. The initial information at the scene left deputies with no clear course of action.

Because the investigation is still under way, Mitchell said he wasn't comfortable giving names of possible suspects.

At this stage, we're still trying to collect enough information to determine if someone is going to be arrested,” said Mitchell.
