LAKEPORT, Calif. – At a recent potluck dinner held at the Lakeport English Inn, the Lake County California Women for Agriculture celebrated the installation of the 2016 newly elected officers.
The new officers include President Diane Henderson; Muffie Panella and Toni Scully, co-vice
presidents; Paula Bryant, treasurer; Susie Kauffman and Lore McGuire, co-recording secretary; Cheri Cunningham, corresponding secretary; and county area representatives Karen Hook (Kelseyville), Jill Jensen (Lakeport), Colleen Rentsch (Upper Lake) and Karen Jones (Middletown).
The Lake County Chapter is part of the statewide California Women for Agriculture. The all-volunteer organization celebrated its 40th anniversary this year.
The organization educates their members and the local public about issues that impact
agriculture.
Lake County California Women for Agriculture also works closely with county, state and federal legislators and leaders addressing agriculture areas of interest.
The local California Women for Agriculture chapter awards scholarships to students pursuing agricultural-related post secondary programs, offers mini-grants to teachers in local schools who provide a food and agriculture focused program for their students and sponsors AgVenture, a four-day program for community leaders who want to learn more about agriculture in Lake County.
Membership in the organization is open to all who are interested in learning about the many steps of our food's “farm to table” journey.
