CLEARLAKE, Calif. – On Monday Clearlake Police officers seized several hundred marijuana plants and arrested one individual in connection to illegal marijuana growing on two properties.
Sgt. Martin Snyder said officers executed two search warrants in the city of Clearlake during daytime hours in the 16200 block of 42nd Avenue.
He said both properties contained wooden fenced lots with "half dome/hoop style" structures. The lots contained no other structures and appeared to be for the sole purpose of marijuana production.
Officers executed both warrants and secured the scenes for processing and eradication, Snyder said.
While on the properties, officers located evidence that there was power and water being supplied to both the grows from an adjoining property. Snyder said officers followed the power lines, which had been buried in an attempt to hide the source, back to a residence.
Officers contacted 24-year-old Juan Diego Licea of Clearlake at the residence, Snyder said.
During the investigation Snyder said it was determined there was probable cause Licea was the subject cultivating the marijuana on the two fenced properties.
Snyder said Licea was arrested for cultivation of marijuana and possession of marijuana for sale, and transported and booked into the Lake County Jail. His bail was set at $15,000, and he later was released, according to jail records.
Approximately 685 marijuana plants were located and eradicated from both properties, Snyder said.
Snyder said the department is continuing to investigate illegal commercial grows in the city of Clearlake.
If anyone has any information or questions regarding illegal marijuana production in city, they are asked to contact Officer Leonardo Flores at 707-994-8251, Extension 542.
