CLEARLAKE, Calif. – The service of a search warrant on Wednesday in Clearlake led to two arrests and the seizure of nearly 1,500 marijuana plants by Clearlake Police.
The agency said that officers executed a search warrant in the 3000 block of Robin Lane in the city of Clearlake during daytime hours.
At the property officers contacted and arrested 32-year-old Jose Montes-Saavedra and 47-year-old Juan Saavedra inside the residence for cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sale and conspiracy to commit a crime, police said.
The property contained several large "half dome/hoop style" structures, which police said were being used for the illegal cultivation of marijuana.
Inside the house, officers located evidence to show the residence was being used as a large scale marijuana cultivation operation, the department reported.
To the south of the main residence, there were two sheds, which had been converted to indoor growing rooms, according to the report.
Inside the two sheds/indoor grow rooms police located numerous marijuana plants. The agency reported that the left side shed/grow room had approximately 360 marijuana plants, while the right side shed/grow room had approximately 576 marijuana plants.
To the west of the residence there was a large fenced-in area that contained several large half dome/hoop style structures. Inside the large fenced in area there were four half dome/hoop style structures, which were covered by two larger, similar structures, according to police.
Inside the four hoop structures, there were approximately 557 marijuana plants, police said.
In total, the department said there were approximately 1,493 marijuana plants located and eradicated. In addition, officers located several hundred rounds of ammunition.
