LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Lakeport Police Department is attempting to locate a Lucerne man who authorities say was responsible for a weekend stabbing.
Ruben Flores Jr., 24, is wanted in connection to the incident, which occurred Saturday evening, according to Chief Brad Rasmussen.
At 5:30 p.m. Saturday Lakeport Police officers were called to Library Park near the playground to investigate the report of a stabbing, Rasmussen said.
He said the investigation revealed that Flores encountered a 24-year-old male subject who was previously known to him in the park and confronted him.
During the encounter, Flores produced a knife and stabbed the victim in the left arm, causing minor injuries. The victim attempted to flee but was tripped by Flores who was continuing to try to assault him, Rasmussen said.
Rasmussen said a 35-year-old male family member of the victim intervened and Flores then swung the knife at him but missed. Flores then punched the second victim in the face before fleeing from the scene.
Officers searched the area around the park but were unable to locate Flores, Rasmussen said.
Later in the evening officers, with the assistance of California Department of Fish and Wildlife officers and Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputies, looked for Flores at several locations in Lucerne but were unable to locate him, Rasmussen said.
Flores is described as a Hispanic male, 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing 145 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
Rasmussen said Flores is currently believed to be avoiding law enforcement and is wanted for two counts of felony assault with a deadly weapon.
