Shannon Ridge receives top honors at California State Fair 'Grape and Gourmet' event

CLEARLAKE OAKS – Shannon Ridge Vineyards and Winery in Lake County received a prestigious award at the California State Fair “Grape and Gourmet” event, which was held at the Cal Expo in Sacramento on July 10.

The winery’s 2007 Roussanne was named ‘Best White Wine of the North Coast Region,’ according to the judges at the 2008 California State Fair Commercial Wine Competition.

Along with the “best of region” award, the Shannon Ridge 2007 Roussanne also received a double gold medal and best of class honors.

In addition, a few of the other Shannon Ridge wines received medals, including a gold medal for the 2007 Sauvignon Blanc and a silver medal for the 2007 Viognier.

“We are grateful for the recognition and are proud of our accomplishments. We are a fairly new brand, and awards and accolades such as these are helping us to build our brand across the country,” said Clay Shannon, proprietor of Shannon Ridge Vineyards and Winery.

The winery currently makes Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Barbera, Grenache, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Roussanne and Viognier, all from the Lake County AVA
