LAKEPORT, Calif. – This week the Lake County Planning Commission is set to discuss a proposal to place a Dollar General store in the Clear Lake Riviera.
The commission will meet beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, in the Board of Supervisors chambers on the first floor of the Lake County Courthouse, 255 N. Forbes St., Lakeport.
Beginning at 9:05 a.m., the commission will discuss the proposal, submitted by Texas-based Cross Development on behalf of Dollar General, a small box retailer based in Tennessee that over the last few years has begun opening stores across California.
So far, Dollar General stores have opened in Clearlake Oaks and Nice, with Cross Development also pursuing a plan for a store in Middletown and another in Lucerne.
Cross Development previously had sought to build a Dollar General store across from Kelseyville High School, a plan that the commission ultimately denied. When Cross Development appealed, the Board of Supervisors upheld the commission’s decision.
Later, Cross Development came back with the new Kelseyville proposal, this time planning a 9,100-square-foot store at 9781 Point Lakeview Road.
Public comment will be taken at the meeting.
