CLEARLAKE, Calif. – The Clearlake City Council this week will consider police equipment purchases, bids for abandoned vehicle tows and building demolitions, and assessments of penalties for failing to abate nuisances.
The council will meet in closed session at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 27, to discuss labor and property negotiations before the public portion of the meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the council chambers at Clearlake City Hall, 14050 Olympic Drive.
Several presentations are on the Thursday agenda, including a proclamation declaring April 2017 as Autism Awareness Month; the annual report from the Public, Education and Government Channel from Chair Ed Robey; the Citizens Caring for Clearlake “Gems of Clearlake” contest results; and the Children’s Museum of Art and Science on the “Wildlife of Clearlake” youth public art contest.
The council will hold a public hearing to confirm assessments totaling $52,500 for administrative penalties for failure to abate public nuisances on 10 properties, and two hearings related to energy-related improvements to city facilities, one adopting certain findings and a contract with Aircon Energy Inc. and the second to adopt financing terms and loan documents for the energy updates.
Under business, the council will consider approving a sole source purchase of 18 mobile data computers, vehicle mounts and record management software for the Clearlake Police Department and the consideration of a memorandum of understanding with the county for use of county-owned property located on Pond Road.
The council also will consider awarding a bid for Abandoned Vehicle Authority-funded tows and an award of a bid to demolish buildings at 5768 Crawford Ave., 2971 Sixth St., 3292 Ninth St., 3114 Eighth St., 2944 Fifth St., 3182 Park St., 3373 11th St. and 13940 Manakee Ave.
On the meeting's consent agenda – items considered noncontroversial and usually accepted as a slate on one vote – are warrant registers; minutes of the council meetings on March 9 and 23; second readings of new ordinances updating regulations for marijuana dispensaries and cultivation; and an amendment to the contract with Raney Planning and Management Inc. for preparing an environmental impact report for the Walmart expansion project.
