LAKEPORT, Calif. – This week the Lakeport Planning Commission will discuss two projects proposed in the city, including an affordable apartment complex and the other for an accessory structure for a local nonprofit.
The commission will meet at 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, in the council chambers at Lakeport City Hall, 225 Park St.
Documents for the meeting can be found at http://www.cityoflakeport.com/departments/docs.aspx?deptID=68&catID=31 .
On the agenda is the consideration of an application from Hospice Services of Lake County for an architectural design and review and a zoning permit for a 3,626-square-foot accessory building for
storage/distribution.
The project is to be located in the rear of the organization’s headquarters property at 1862 Parallel Drive.
Also on the agenda is the application from AMG & Associates for an architectural and design review for the construction of a 24-unit affordable multi-family apartment at 1255 Martin St.
The project will be located on a 3.5-acre portion of the 10.5-acre property across from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
The staff report on the item said that the commission approved a similar project on the same property – for a 32-unit affordable senior housing apartment complex – in 2015.
In April the Lakeport City Council approved modifying the proposal to a multifamily affordable apartment complex project in the wake of this winter’s floods, during which city officials said they became aware of an extreme shortage of affordable housing in the city, as Lake County News has reported.
The commission also will discuss projects pending Community Development Department approval as of June 8.
