Lakeport Police plans ABC enforcement operations

LAKE COUNTY NEWS REPORT – The Lakeport Police Department reports that it's preparing to start conducting enforcements on alcohol-related laws this month in the city of Lakeport.

Lt. Brad Rasmussen reported that the agency will begin conducting alcoholic beverage enforcement operations, licensed premises inspections and alcoholic beverage control education during August and continuing through fiscal year 2008-09.

He said at least one enforcement operation, targeting the sale or delivery of alcoholic beverages to

minors, will be conducted prior to Aug. 31.

These operations, said Rasmussen, are funded through a grant received from the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC). ABC investigators will work with Lakeport Police officers during the operations.

Rasmussen said the goal of the grant is to educate licensees and reduce the number of alcohol-related

violations in the community, especially relating to minors.

Alcoholic beverage licensees seeking additional information are encouraged to contact the department at 263-5491. Training dates will be announced in the future.
