Farm fresh foods still available in December

LAKE COUNTY – Did you know that you can still purchase Lake County-grown produce and farm products even after the Farmers' Markets close for the season?

Several farm stands are still open for business selling locally grown produce, eggs and other tasty foods.

Leonardis Organics in Lakeport, which has a self-service farm stand, currently has greens such as bok choy, tatsoi, chard, kale and root vegetables like turnips, radishes and beets – and more – along with fresh eggs.

Seely's Farm Stand in Upper Lake is also still open with a variety of vegetables, fruits and other farm products such as dried fruit, Socorra's Salsa (made here in Lake County), local honey and more.

Renker Farms, which is just down the road from Steele Wines where the Kelseyville Certified Farmers' Market is held, is also still open.

And if you want a box of produce each week, you can still receive local and nearly-local produce by becoming a member of the Lake County Community Co-Op and picking up a box of fresh produce each week in Clearlake.

Buying your food from local farmers ensures that you receive the freshest produce and helps keep local dollars circuling in our economy.

For more information on local farms, you can pick up a Farm Trails Discovery Map at the Visitors Information Center in Lucerne.
