LAKE COUNTY – Artists, musicians and government officials will join in a Summer Harvest Celebration Sunday, Aug. 16, at the Lakeport Yacht Club, 15 Fifth Street, Lakeport.

The 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. event is co-hosted by the Lake County Democratic Club and Lake County Democratic Central Committee. Admission is $20.

Wine and other beverages will be available.

A silent auction of work by local artists will include pieces by Jack Cornell, Gloria De La Cruz , Karen Magnusson, Barbara Stubblefield, Shannon Tolson of Second Sunday Cinema and Karen Turcotte of EcoArts and the Coyote Film Festival.

Music will be provided by the Without a Net.

State Assembly Majority Whip Assemblywoman Fiona Ma will be in attendance. Assemblywoman Ma sits on the Assembly Committee on Agriculture and is the sponsor of AB 1409 – a bill to provide financial  support to farmers who wish to transition to organic growing practices.

State Senator Pat Wiggins, chair of  the Joint Legislative Committee on Fisheries & Aquaculture, and First District Assemblyman Wes Chesbro, a member of the  Assembly Committee on Natural Resources, will be in attendance.

Information on various nonpartisan food providers, local food resources and environmental organizations, including the Lake County Community Action Agency, the Hunger Task Force, the Community Gardens Project and  the  Sierra Club will be available.
