LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Golden State Water Co. was pleased to partner with State Senators Ted Gaines (SD-1), Jim Nielsen (SD-4), Steven Glazer (SD-7), Tom Berryhill (SD-8), Assembly Members Bill Dodd (AD-4), James Gallagher (AD-3), Ken Cooley (AD-8), Jim Frazier (AD-11), Susan Bonilla (AD-14), the Sutter County Board of Supervisors and the Rancho Cordova City Council to distribute turkeys this holiday season to charitable organizations in the Northern District that serve individuals and families in need as part of the annual Operation Gobble outreach program.

Golden State Water employees in the Northern District delivered the turkeys throughout November to numerous community-based organizations that serve the communities of Arden Manor, Bay Point, Clearlake, Gold River, Rancho Cordova and Sutter County. 

Community-based organizations that benefited from this effort include the Lake County Hunger Taskf Force, North Coast Opportunities Inc., Rancho Cordova Food Locker, St. Ignatius Parish, United Veterans Council of Pittsburg, Loaves & Fishes of Contra Costa County, Pittsburg Community Emergency Services, Pittsburg Unified School District, Ambrose Lions Club, STS Academy, Greater Faith MBT, Church of Glad Tidings, Live Oak Lions Club, United Pentecostal Church of Yuba City, Early Risers Kiwanis, Deputy Sheriff’s Association, Sutter Lions Club, Yuba-Sutter Food Bank, Alliance for Hispanic Advancement, Yuba City High School - Needy Families, Mahal Plaza, First United Methodist Church and the CC Café to name a few.

“We appreciate this partnership with elected officials and community leaders, and are proud of the impact the Operation Gobble program has had in our communities,” said Ronald Moore, Golden State Water’s Operation Gobble project leader. “Food insecurity is a problem that affects  1 in 7 Californians and we hope that this year’s effort will have made the Thanksgiving holiday a little brighter for those in need.”

Operation Gobble has been a Golden State Water tradition since 1990. This year, Golden State Water distributed more than 8,400 turkeys in the more than 76 communities in 10 counties that it serves.

Throughout the 26-year tradition, Golden State Water has donated more than 224,000 turkeys to charitable organizations in partnership with legislators that select local non-profit organizations that serve those in need.
