LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Lake County Democratic Club with co-sponsor Lake County Democratic Central Committee will hold the fifth annual Summer Harvest Festival on Sunday, Aug. 5.

The festival will take place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Lakeport Yacht Club, 15 Fifth St.

The meal this year will consist of homemade lasagna, including vegetarian lasagna, salads, and French bread with complimentary local wines and a delicious dessert.

In addition there will be a silent auction with interesting and fun items to bid on.

Assembly member Mariko Yamada will be keynote speaker. She currently represents Assembly District 8 and is a candidate for the new Assembly District 4, which takes in all of Lake County as well as five other counties.

Special invited guests include Congressman John Garamendi, candidate for the new Congressional District 3; and Congressman Mike Thompson, candidate for the new Congressional District 5.

All local Democratic candidates will have an opportunity to speak.  

Event Sponsors include Congressman Thompson, state Sen. Noreen Evans, state Assemblyman Wes Chesbro and state Assembly member Mariko Yamada.

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Lake County Chapter of California Women For Agriculture recently awarded two scholarships to students pursuing education in an agricultural related field.

This year's recipients were Mary Brown of Kelseyville High School and Lindee Jones of Middletown High School.

Funds for scholarships are raised primarily through pear pie booth sales at the Kelseyville Pear Festival and through the support of individuals and businesses in our community.  

This year's Kelseyville Pear Festival will take place Saturday, Sept. 29.

Stop by the pie booth in the Pear Pavilion to purchase your pear pies and turnovers.
