LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – For those looking to give the gift of a home to a new four-legged friend this holiday season, Lake County Animal Care and Control is discounting adoption rates.
From now through Dec. 23, Animal Care and Control is waiving the county portion of the animal adoption fee, according to Director Bill Davidson.
Davidson said waiving the fee reduces the overall cost by $30 for dogs and $20 for cats.
Adoption costs are as follows:
Dogs:
- Males: $121
- Females, under 60 pounds: $131
- Females, over 60 pounds: $146 (price is higher due to increased costs of spaying larger dogs)
Cats:
- Males: $76
- Females: $86
Overall adoption costs include spaying and neutering, microchipping and vaccinations – including rabies, if the animal is old enough – and the county dog license. License fees do not apply to residents of the cities of Lakeport or Clearlake.
