LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – The men and women of the Lake County Deputy Sheriff's Association will host an event later this month to raise funds for their Shop with a Cop Program for local children.
“Christmas in July” will be held at Boatique Winery in Kelseyville on Saturday, July 29.
The event will include a barbecue dinner and raffles for goods and services.
All proceeds will benefit the association’s Shop with a Cop holiday program, which it reports has been a huge success in Lake County.
Lake County’s Shop with A Cop program began with the generosity of the Bay Area Deputy
Sheriff's Charitable Foundation after the Valley fire in 2015.
Association members, joined by members of other law enforcement employee associations, contributed money and time to make the Shop with a Cop a success in the past.
In 2015 and 2016, the Shop with a Cop program allowed approximately 130 children, who were underprivileged or have had tragic events in their life, to receive needed clothing and gifts.
Each child was paired with a law enforcement officer to spend $200 on items that they wanted and/or needed.
This shopping experience provides children with an opportunity to interact with law enforcement officers and create positive lifelong memories with law enforcement.
The Lake County Deputy Sheriff's Association is looking for volunteers to staff the event as well as more donations, and also hopes to obtain additional sponsors to raise at least $10,000 so this year’s Shop with a Cop event can afford to provide at least 50 children the ability to spend $200 each.
Tickets are $50 each and can be requested through any Lake County Deputy Sheriff's Association member, by calling 707-350-9449 or sending an email to
The event is limited to 100 attendees so be sure to get your tickets fast.
