Performers sought for children’s musical

By Lake County News Reports | Feb. 24, 2026

LAKEPORT, Calif. — Do you have a child who likes to sing, dance, or act? Then don’t miss auditions for “We the People!”

The play is put on by the Konocti Christian Academy, but students from any school or district are welcome to participate. This includes homeschool students.

Organizers are seeking performers ages 8 (2nd grade) and up. The show will be performed Memorial Day weekend at the Soper Reese Theater in Lakeport.

“We the People” is directed by Tim Barnes, who directed “Matilda the Musical” for the Lake County Theatre Company in 2025. His wife, Laura (producer for Matilda) will assist. Tim Barnes is the principal at KCA, and Laura is a teacher in Kelseyville.

The following is a brief description of the show:

This play begins as a committee discusses putting on a patriotic show for their town. Just what does America mean to them? One person pulls out the Preamble to the Constitution, and they decide to use it as a framework for their show. Through a series of small-cast sketches and songs organized phrase by phrase from the Preamble, they show not only how the Constitution applies to our past, but also to our present and future. Everyday life is showcased in both funny and touching vignettes, offering a variety of moods as it explores the deeper meanings of the language of the Constitution. This musical will serve as a fine reminder that the remarkable words written by our forefathers many years ago are still a living document, part of our lives each and every day.

Auditions are scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 25, from 4 to 6 p.m., and Saturday, Feb. 28, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Attendance is only required at one audition. Auditions will be held at the Konocti Christian Academy, located at 5805 Live Oak Drive in Kelseyville.

Rehearsal days and times are to be determined, and will depend on the availability of our cast members.
