KELSEYVILLE – The Buckingham Open Studios Tour will take place on Saturday, May 22.


The tour will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.


The $10 ticket includes the tour and brunch, with brunch served from 10 a.m. to noon.


A map will be provided for 17 artists and studios, all in Buckingham.

LAKEPORT – The Celtic harp trio Triskela’s Saturday, April 17, performance at the Soper-Reese Theatre in Lakeport, beginning at 7 p.m., will be enhanced by the addition of local harpist Linda Brown.


She will be performing in the lobby prior to the Triskela’s show and will be a welcoming prelude to a captivating evening of music.


Brown was inspired to take up the harp after hearing Triskela perform in Lake County in 1997.


Playing a Celtic style lever harp, she has contributed uplifting harp music to many local events including Renaissance fairs, farmers’ markets and weddings.


Uncorked, a newly formed local Celtic band with members Eleanor Cook, Andi Skelton, Teale Love, Don Coffin, Dan Harris, Dennis Hadley and Greg Bushta, will open the show, providing an energetic performance of Irish waltzes, jigs and reels.


Triskela follows with their stirring blend of Celtic and world music choices. Their wide range of compositions is performed on hand-made harps accompanied by three-part vocals, flute, penny whistle and an assortment of percussion instruments.


Versatile musicians Diana Stork, Portia Diwa and Shawna Spiteri combine their musical talents to create a breathtaking performance.

UKIAH – Celebrate springtime with the Dora Street Brass Quintet.


This lively concert, entitled "Mayday," will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 1.


Come hear the quintet, which has been heard around the world. The members of the quintet are not only exceptional musicians but will definitely have you in bouts of laughter with their banter, possibly requiring a true "Mayday" distress call.


Music selections will span the centuries from the Renaissance, Baroque, and classical to Latin, show tunes and Jazz. The show will not only be an aural feast but a visual one as well with a full light and multi-media performance.


There may even be some singing involved (remember ... "Mayday"). It will be fun and entertaining for the entire family.


The group will be performing at Ukiah's newest entertainment venue, theMIX, located at 75H Kunzler Ranch Road, Ukiah.


Tickets are reasonably priced at $10 for adults, $6 for seniors and students, children 5 may attend for free.

LUCERNE – Community members are invited to take part in Harbor Village Artists' art classes and demonstrations this Saturday, April 10.


Demonstrations in spiral beading techniques, silk painting, woodburning on a gourd and beaded peyote stitch will take place from noon to 2 p.m.


At The Gourd Gallery, Sandie Coelho-Davis will show woodburning techniques.


Knowing the proper way to use woodburning tools is the first step in mastering the art of pyrography.


Coelho-Davis will offer tips that will help aspiring gourd artists create a one-of-a-kind piece of art.


Luwana Quitiquit of the Pomo Fine Arts Gallery will give a presentation on making beaded peyote stitch earrings.


The ancient peyote stitch is one of the most popular off-loom stitches among contemporary beaders. She'll show the technique, which is said to be amazingly easy and versatile.


Lynn Hughes will teach a class on spiral beading at the Lakeside Art Gallery.


Spiral beading is a standard beading technique which can have many different outcomes by changing the count or size of the beads. Learn how to apply this fascinating technique to your next project.


At Serendipity Art and Boutique, Diana Liebe will lead a silk painting demonstration, using water-based full color dyes on silk fabric to create dynamic, vibrant and beautiful pieces of art. Liebe's class will take place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

LAKEPORT – It’s now easier than ever to get tickets for upcoming events such as Triskela or the Spring Dance Festival held at the Soper-Reese Theatre.

There have been a lot of exciting changes taking place at the theater. The ambiance has been improved through the paving of the courtyard and the planting of trees. The first-ever dinner and dance was a great success proving that the theater provides a versatile venue.


For the upcoming Spring Dance Festival, the many dancers will perform on a specially constructed dance floor on the stage of the theater.


In addition to online ticket purchases, the theater also has a Facebook page to keep everyone up-to-date on news regarding performances and changes to the facility.


The improvements to the theater and the many accomplishments that have taken place over the past few years have taken place solely because of donations from the community, grants from local entities and the untiring efforts of the volunteers dedicated to providing Lake County with a viable community theater.
