Results announced for 43rd Annual International Worm Races

CLEARLAKE – The Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce has released the results of the 43rd Annual International Worm Races, which took place in Clearlake during the Independence Day weekend.

There may not be another event like our worm race in the world. This event is extraordinary; where else but Clearlake, can you race a worm?

Top finishers included:

– First place: Justin Townsel, San Diego, adult competition, racing his worm “Wonton II”;

– Second place: Desirae Bradley-Cordova, 13, of Oroville with her Worm “Isis”;

– Third place: Jason Brown, 6, of Clearlake with his worm “A.J.”;

– Fourth place: Daniel Walker, 3, of Clearlake with his worm “Wormy.”

This event is sponsored by the Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce, but it could not happen without the help from the volunteers.

The chamber thanked the city of Clearlake, Worm Master Bill Edmunds, Joan Edmunds, Jim Edmunds, Foods Etc., Hey Taxi!, Jones & Lewis Funeral Chapel, Konoctees, Lakeshore Bait & Tackle, Mendo Mill, Penny Slaver, Performance Mechanical, Shannon Ridge Vineyards & Winery, community friends Philip, Michaele and Teresa, and Bob and Judy Thein who presented the winners with trophies.

The chamber offered its thanks for another great racing year and looks forward to next year.
