Learn to make lavender wands and suncatchers at July 9 garden club meeting

HIDDEN VALLEY LAKE, Calif. – Crafts and project proposals will be on the program for the Monday, July 9, meeting of the Hidden Valley Lake Garden Club, held in the activities room of the HVLA administration office, 18174 Hidden Valley Road.

Social gathering with refreshments begins at 9:30 a.m., followed by meeting and program at 10 a.m.

During the meeting attendees will have the opportunity to create a lavender wand, a decorative as well as aromatic piece, or a suncatcher, a decorative glass sculpture for their garden.

Lavender and ribbon will be provided for the wands but attendees will need to bring their own scissors.

For those wishing to make a suncatcher, there is a fee of $4 to cover the cost of rebar and copper tubing. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and provide their own glass items: 6- to 7-inch glass dish; 5- to 6-inch glass bowl; wine goblet and a narrow vase.

At the meeting members will also present, for consideration, proposals for projects for 2012.

Every year the Hidden Valley Lake Garden Club sponsors programs in Lake County. The projects for 2011 included landscaping for a Habitat for Humanity home; a $500 scholarship; $300 to local schools for their gardens; beautification of Hartmann Road; yard maintenance for the Middletown Library and Helping Hands – a program to provide yard clean-up for those unable to care for their yards themselves.

All meetings of the Hidden Valley Lake Garden Club are open to the public. The organization meets on the second Monday of each month.
